Please take a moment to explore the many diverse enrichment opportunities that are available for the Center School K - 3 Extended Learning Program participants.These activities are organized by month and run in six, eight, or ten-week sessions. Please note that some of these activities require a registration and/or activity fee. You will be notified and billed via email once the activity is filled to its minimum requirement (the minimum will be listed for each activity as it varies). Once an activity is filled the activity will be CLOSED. Visit the

In addition to the activities listed on our calendar, the dynamic Extended Learning Program staff also offer a variety of exciting daily activities that do not require registration. If you have questions, concerns or suggestions for an activity please email Laura Dwyer at ldwyer@nrsd or chat with your Site Coordinator. We are always looking for new ideas to share with our students.

Registrations for the below fall activities are closed as these activities have already begun.

THEATER FUNDAMENTALS CLOSED! This class will teach the fundamentals of acting and to encourage self-confidence, a spirit of generous teamwork, and a true sense of purpose and appreciation for the goodness and beauty of the performing arts. Each week the young actors and actresses will have the opportunity to explore a variety of theatrical elements and techniques. They will learn the basics of acting in front of an audience, e.g. articulation, projection, and self-expression through the art of acting. Participants will learn what it means to see the world through another’s eyes!

SCIENCE MADNESS CLOSED This class will allow students to explore science through various hands-on science experiments. The first class participants will create their very own Kaleidoscope!

TENNIS FALL SESSION CLOSED! QuickStart Tennis is the newest rage sweeping the junior tennis world! This program allows younger children to play tennis using a smaller court, softer balls, and other specialized equipment. Kids are extremely engaged and they learn skills that can be applied to more advanced techniques as they improve. The MLTC has been offering high-level tennis instruction in Acton for over 16 years and the program was one of the first in the area to offer QuickStart methods. Students should wear sneakers and dress comfortably. Rackets provided. This class is designed for K - 3 beginner participants.

STEM IS FUN FOR KIDS! Through hands-on activities and STEM challenges, children will think, construct, experiment, discover, and develop the desire to learn more. The children will explore the use of different learning tools that enable and emphasize STEM learning. Participants will learn something new and experience a different kind of fun in each class. Learning is best when kids are having fun! STEM Is Fun! classes are conducted one hour per week for six weeks.

IMAGARENA Over the course of 6 weeks, participants create with over 30 building materials and learn strategies for overcoming creative blocks and working in teams. At the end of the program, their creations are posted online to share with family and friends. Great for after-school programs looking to add a new and exciting enrichment program to their offerings. Classes are conducted one hour per week for six weeks.

ENERGY, FORCES, FLIGHT & ROBOTS 
May the forces be with you! Explore inertia, momentum, and gravity by launching race cars, spinning bike wheels, and launching catapults. Experiment with tension and compression, discover which shapes are strongest and try to make an earthquake-proof building. Work with robots that react to coding, follow a maze of lines, pick up toys, or even listen and react to sounds, then build your own robotic hand to continue the exploration at home. Discover the wonders of potential and kinetic energy, the mechanics of flight and more related topics throughout the term. Classes are conducted one hour per week for six weeks.
